Remedial Engineers, or Remedial Designers, are specialists in the fields of reporting, project management and contract administration, with a focus on remedying a range of building deficiencies. There are numerous examples of building deficiencies, such as waterproofing, concrete cancer, façade rejuvenation, balcony and balustrade repair. All building deficiencies are solved methodically by undertaking diagnostic investigations and providing technical specifications stipulating all materials and methodologies to be carried out. Remedial Engineers can also help you out by providing the best solution based on the present status of your building.

If you notice any building deficiencies, you should immediately call a remedial engineer to assess the extent of the issue. A remedial engineer is responsible for inspecting and evaluating all building elements and provides recommendations on their findings. After a thorough inspection, the engineer will recommend the best way to repair and predict the cost. So, it is better to consult a remedial engineer if you are looking to find out the extent of building defects and the related cost of repair.

Consulting a remedial engineer is always a good idea if you observe any defect in the building. It is better to get it repaired as soon as possible otherwise the problem may get bigger. It might cost more to repair it later than consulting an engineer now. If you consult a remedial engineer at the early stages of the issue, they will be able to tell you the extent of the defect and resolve the issue in the most appropriate and cost-effective manner.

Generally, there are common steps that any remedial consultant engineer would follow in resolving building defects in your property which are as follows: - Initial site inspection and reporting - Preparation of a technical specification - Tender process and building work contract formation - Project management of remedial works - Provide practical completion to Owners Corporation and Strata Management
